چکیده
Bistatic backscatter communication (BackCom) allows passive tags to transmit over extended ranges, but at the cost of having carrier emitters either transmitting high powers or being deployed very close tags. In this paper, we examine how presence an intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) could benefit bistatic BackCom system. We study power minimization problem emitter, where its beamforming vector is jointly optimized with IRS phase shifts, whilst guaranteeing a required performance. A unique feature in system setup multiple reflections experienced by signals traveling from emitter reader, which renders optimization highly nonconvex. Therefore, propose algorithms based on minorization-maximization and alternating techniques obtain approximate solutions for joint design. also low-complexity successive individual shifts. Our results reveal considerable savings both single-tag multi-tag systems, even moderate sizes, may be translated significant range improvements using original reduction reliance located range.

In this paper, we explore the impacts of utilizing intelligent reflecting surfaces (IRS) in a power-splitting based simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (PS-SWIPT) system and compare its performance with the traditional decode and forward relaying system. To analyze a more practical system, it is also assumed that the receiving nodes are subject to decoding cost, and they are on...
متن کاملRetrodirective Large Antenna Energy Beamforming in Backscatter Multi-User Networks
In this letter, we study a new technique for energy beamforming (EB) in multi-user networks, which combines large antenna retrodirectivity at the transmitter side with signal backscattering at the energy receivers. The proposed technique has low complexity and achieves EB without any active operation at the receivers or complicated signal processing techniques at the transmitter. Since the aver...

This paper proposes a wireless powered communication network (WPCN) assisted by backscatter communication (BackCom). This model consists of a power station, an information receiver and multiple users that can work in either BackCom mode or harvest-then-transmit (HTT) mode. The time block is mainly divided into two parts corresponding to the data backscattering and transmission periods, respecti...
